Commodore’s Report Hi everyone. Seems like we just launched our boats and the other day we got our notice for winter storage. Summer does go by fast, but we still got a few months of boating and a number of club activities and trips to partake in so sign up and enjoy the rest of the summer. General elections are coming up at the October General Membership Meeting. All the Flag Officer positions are open and three board member positions. Anyone interested needs to let a board member know and attend the October Meeting. It’s a rewarding way to keep the club moving forward and it’s a team effort so everyone helps each other out. One of the club’s charities this year is to Adopt a Family at Christmas time. Our intent is the family to be local from the Shores. We set a goal of $500.00 to be able to provide a family in need with a great holiday. At one time I announced that if every member donated $5.00 we would be at that amount. Currently our balance is $130.00, and that’s from the charity raffle at the Commodore’s Ball and two member’s donations. If you have an extra $5.00 to donate, please do so we can provide a family in need with a Christmas to remember from a generous and giving boat club. I know at Christmas time it’ll make you feel good to know that you helped someone in need. Donations can be given to any of the officers or board members. Thanks We’re in the process of determining where the General Membership Meetings will be held during the off season time. Once the location is confirmed the information will be provided to all members. Attend a meeting and besides hearing what’s going on in your club you can provide any issues or concerns you have. All input is welcomed. Gloria and I are chairing Night Golf this year. The date is October 4th at Warfield Greens in Fraser. The cost is $20.00 per person. Even if you’re not a golfer this is fun event. Sign up and have a fun evening. See our Fleet Captain, Diane Filary, to sign up. Bring your friends and family. Note!!! There has been a series of thefts in the marina this year. Secure all your belongings when you’re not at your boat. Watch out for your neighbors boat. If you see someone you don’t recognize around their boat get security or the marina personnel involved. I think I’ve said all I was going to for this newsletter, take care and enjoy the rest of the boating season. Be Safe!! Next Board Meeting is August 26th, 7.00PM at K of C. Next General Membership Meeting is September 2nd, 7.00PM at the Marina. Steven Kemmis Well #543 586-296-5082 sg280da@wowway.com
